"People like you still believe the earth is flat!"
CHRISTIANS DO NOT BELIEVE THE EARTH IS FLAT
“The Earth hangs on nothing, a sphere in an expanding universe".
Isaiah 40:22
Isaiah 40:22
Historically bible believer believing scientists knew the Earth is a sphere, but it took the average 'bible rejecting' secular scientist a long time to research and ‘’discover’’ what they now believe and could, have read for themselves in the bible.

THE EARTH IS A SPHERE!
Secular scientists confirm the truth of ancient writings.
“Earth hangs on nothing, a sphere in the Universe”
Before man could comprehend -
The bible already had the answers.
It is not known exactly when the book of Job was written, perhaps around 3500 years ago but the book of Isaiah is known to have been written about 2740 years ago and in the Old Testament we read:
"He drew a circular horizon on the face of the waters, At the boundary of light and darkness" Job 26:10
"He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing"Job 26:7
Then in Isaiah 40:22 we read:
"It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in"

Isaac Newton read this in his bible and he is said to be the first scientist to publicly announce that the Earth was not perfectly round. Instead, he suggested it was an oblate spheroid, a sphere that is squashed at its poles & swollen at the equator. He was correct & because of this bulge, the distance from Earth's center to sea level is roughly 21klm (13 miles) greater at the equator than at the poles.
Nevertheless it is a sphere that hangs on nothing.

DEAD SEA SCROLLS
The greatest biblical find of the 20th century
The Dead Sea Scrolls are the greatest biblical find of the 20th century - they contain the earliest versions of the Hebrew Bible, maps to the hidden treasure of Jerusalem's Holy Temple, and insight into the mindsets of John the Baptist, Jesus and the early Christians.
From the edge of the Dead Sea in Qumran came some of the most significant artifacts of modern times: the Dead Sea Scrolls. Now Israel has put the historic scrolls and prophecies on display.

MY FAITH In THE TRUTH of THE BIBLE
I believe the Bible is the Word of God and that it is accurate and truthful in all that it says. It has, to my satisfaction, been tested and found to be true in history, archaeology and fulfilled prophecy. Therefore I accept the Bible’s authority in the account of the origin of life.

HAVE YOU FOUND THE TRUTH?
Is there such a thing?
ABSOLUTELY THERE IS!
“What is Truth?” It’s difficult to think of a more important topic than the nature of truth. Truth is that which agrees with reality. Society no longer cares about truth. It says "It doesn’t matter what one regards as 'truth' just as long as they are sincere"
|
|
Truth is subjective, society says, and it’s up to each individual to decide for themselves what is right and wrong. On the contrary: we need to remember that anything other than the truth needs to be rejected. When an individual “suppresses the truth in unrighteousness” and comes to the false conclusion that “there is no truth” or that “there are many truths,” they will inevitably reject the concept of absolute morality. What “seems” right to one individual may “seem” wrong to the next. ...............
If something is true because someone thinks it’s true, then all sincere statements ever uttered would be true-even those that weren’t correct! If morals are decided by the individual, why not live that way? Why not rob a bank to feed your family or steal a car to get to work on time? Why not base all your decisions on whether or not YOU think something is right or wrong? That would be ridiculous. Jesus said He came into the world to testify to the truth. Don’t be wrong when it comes to the truth that Jesus is the only way to the Father. “For there is no other name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). And that’s the truth. TREASURE IN EARTHENWARE JARS
Our physical body is like a fragile clay pot!
A jar of clay with its flaws, chips, and cracks is fragile and easily broken. It’s not of great worth or monetary value, but rather a common, ordinary vessel.
Our physical bodies are like that earthen vessel, a fragile clay pot! We have our flaws our disabilities and we have shattered dreams. None of these things can bring a sense of value to our lives. If we focus on our human fragility, despair is bound to come over us.
But the secret to overcoming despair is shown in the ancient writings of the bible. Inside that broken, fragile, ordinary clay jar there can be a priceless treasure!
The void in the human heart is a God shaped void and God wants to fill it with heavenly treasure. But when we make the right choice God will fill your heart.

SEEK & YE SHALL FIND
The Truth
The scientific evidence for the age of the earth is the same for both young earth and old earth supporters. Research based on this shared evidence by either party amounts only to a feasibility study but never to proof.
The Christian has faith in the Word of God. Others who do not have faith in the Word of God may have faith in the word of man or they may have faith in themselves or just give up & don’t believe anything.
We may choose to accept or reject God’s gift of what I believe is the true and historic explanation of the beginnings of things as recorded in the Bible, but in so doing, no matter what ones faith is in, no matter what ones presuppositions are based upon, we all accept God’s gift of freedom of choice.
I see this as more evidence for there being a Loving & Caring Creator God of all things. He offers us freedom of choice, the answers to the questions we all ask and He offers us a way to eternal life.
Because I choose to believe our shared evidence points to Creation, makes me no greater a person than one who chooses to believe our shared evidence points to something other than Creation. I do however lay claim to one thing, I claim wisdom. Not wisdom brought about by my years on this earth, but wisdom brought about by my acceptance and respect for my Creator.

If it's true that the Bible contains scientific facts that were written thousands of years before man discovered them, the implications are staggering. These facts would be evidence that the Bible is the word of God, and its promise of Heaven and threat of Hell are therefore not to be mocked or ignored. Freedom to live your life as you've always dreamed it could be.
There is a song:
“You are the treasure that I seek ….Seeking you as a precious jewel, Lord to give up I would be a fool, You are my all in all”.

ETERNAL OR TEMPORARY TREASURE
Which is better?
Dead Sea Scrolls
The answer depends on whether one is earthly-minded or heavenly-minded and is investing in the future eternity to come, or are investing in the here and now.
Jesus used the three examples below to show how the things we deem most important are only temporary. He uses the moth, rust, and the thief. We can all think of examples of these things in our lives. For instance, someone drives a new car off the lot so proudly. They love this vehicle. They have the windows rolled down and the music cranked as they want the world to know they have just bought this new car! The next thing you know, a little humility comes as they are sideswiped, and their new shiny car is destroyed and no longer of value.
The Moth: Moths can get into clothes and eat holes in them.
Rust: the effect of salt on cars is brutal. You could have the nicest car in the world, but it eventually rusts. Like the moth rust can eat away at earthly treasure.
The Thief: With treasure comes the fear of someone stealing it, so we put walls around our house so no one can get in. We have security guards and hidden safes. But still the thief will do anything to make our treasure, his own.
Maybe your treasure is in the form of money, precious metals or jewels.
is calling us to change our minds from the temporary to the eternal, from the things that are passing by to the things that are permanent. You never see a hearse pulling a U-Haul trailer! If you did, we would all be shocked because we know the earthly treasures we store up cannot be taken with us. They are only temporary. All through the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus asks us to repent, to change our minds and our attitudes, and to be like those in Hebrews 11 who had eternity in their hearts and the promises God gave them.
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. But now they desired a better that is a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them (Hebrews 11:13-16).
In contrast, Jesus says in Matthew 6:20, “but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.” Here Jesus is talking about laying up eternal treasures that do not fade away. What are these treasures Jesus is talking about? First Peter 1:3-6 states:
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials.
What an awesome thing to know that as believers our inheritance is waiting for us, that as children of God, we will inherit eternity! Being with Christ, that is our reward! Those who strive to store up treasures here on earth will be disappointed because those treasures will only pass away.

Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire (1 Corinthians 3:12-15).
At the end of our life as believers, we will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ and give an account for our lives here on the earth. Whatever we have laid upon that foundation, whether gold or hay, will go through the fire and either last or not last. Those believers who seek to build up wealth and riches on earth will suffer loss and will be saved as through fire, whereas those who strive to lay up treasures in heaven will receive a reward. The greatest of these treasures is that we can enter eternity fully pardoned and set free from the bondage of sin because of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.

The greatest of these treasures is that we can enter eternity fully pardoned and set free from the bondage of sin because of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.
So the question arises, “How do we lay up treasures in heaven?” The answer is by living the way God has asked us to live and following after Him in all that we do. For example, loving your neighbor as yourself – if a man has a need for a shirt and you have extra, give him one – being a cheerful giver, honoring God in your marriage, guarding your mind against adulterous thoughts, sharing the good news of the gospel with those around you. There are so many things which all narrow down to loving the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and loving your neighbor as yourself.
In the final statement in verse 21, Jesus goes back to the heart: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” One of the Ten Commandments states: “You shall have no other gods before Me” (Exodus 20:3). When we set our hearts on the things of this earth and fall to the temptation of being worldly in our ways, we are committing idolatry because we are no longer serving God. Rather, we have put our riches above God, and we are serving them. They have become our god and our life. Jesus challenges us, as He challenged those He was talking to that day in the crowd, to ask ourselves where our treasure is. If your treasure is on earth and the things of this world, your heart will be there as well. If your heart is focused on the Father and on laying up treasures in heaven, your heart will be there.

THE APOSTLE PAUL'S JOURNEY
Biblical shipwrecks
Saul of Tarsus (Paul), survived not one, but 3 shipwrecks !
When it was decided that we would sail for Italy, Paul and some other prisoners were handed over to a centurion named Julius, who belonged to the Imperial Regiment. We boarded a ship from Adramyttium about to sail for ports along the coast of the province of Asia, and we put out to sea. Aristarchus, a Macedonian from Thessalonica, was with us.
|
The next day we landed at Sidon; and Julius, in kindness to Paul, allowed him to go to his friends so they might provide for his needs. From there we put out to sea again and passed to the lee of Cyprus because the winds were against us. When we had sailed across the open sea off the coast of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we landed at Myra in Lycia. There the centurion found an Alexandrian ship sailing for Italy and put us on board.
We made slow headway for many days and had difficulty arriving off Cnidus. When the wind did not allow us to hold our course, we sailed to the lee of Crete, opposite Salmone. We moved along the coast with difficulty and came to a place called Fair Havens, near the town of Lasea.
Much time had been lost, and sailing had already become dangerous because by now it was after the Day of Atonement. So Paul warned them, “Men, I can see that our voyage is going to be disastrous and bring great loss to ship and cargo, and to our own lives also.” But the centurion, instead of listening to what Paul said, followed the advice of the pilot and of the owner of the ship. Since the harbor was unsuitable to winter in, the majority decided that we should sail on, hoping to reach Phoenix and winter there. This was a harbor in Crete, facing both southwest and northwest.

THE STORM
Apostle Paul Shipwreck.
When a gentle south wind began to blow, they saw their opportunity; so they weighed anchor and sailed along the shore of Crete. Before very long, a wind of hurricane force, called the Northeaster, swept down from the island. The ship was caught by the storm and could not head into the wind; so we gave way to it and were driven along. As we passed to the lee of a small island called Cauda, we were hardly able to make the lifeboat secure, so the men hoisted it aboard. Then they passed ropes under the ship itself to hold it together. Because they were afraid they would run aground on the sandbars of Syrtis, they lowered the sea anchor[b] and let the ship be driven along. We took such a violent battering from the storm that the next day they began to throw the cargo overboard. On the third day, they threw the ship’s tackle overboard with their own hands. When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and the storm continued raging, we finally gave up all hope of being saved.
After they had gone a long time without food, Paul stood up before them and said: “Men, you should have taken my advice not to sail from Crete; then you would have spared yourselves this damage and loss. But now I urge you to keep up your courage, because not one of you will be
lost; only the ship will be destroyed. Last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.’ So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me. Nevertheless, we must run aground on some island.”
THE SHIPWRECK
On the fourteenth night we were still being driven across the Adriatic Sea, when about midnight the sailors sensed they were approaching land. They took soundings and found that the water was a hundred and twenty feet deep. A short time later they took soundings again and found it was
ninety feet deep. Fearing that we would be dashed against the rocks, they
dropped four anchors from the stern and prayed for daylight. In an attempt to escape from the ship, the sailors let the lifeboat down into the sea, pretending they were going to lower some anchors from the bow. Then Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, “Unless these men stay with the ship, you cannot be saved.” So the soldiers cut the ropes that held the lifeboat and let it drift away.
Just before dawn Paul urged them all to eat. “For the last fourteen days,” he said, “you have been in constant suspense and have gone without food—you haven’t eaten anything. Now I urge you to take some food. You need it to survive. Not one of you will lose a single hair from his head.” After he said this, he took some bread and gave thanks to God in front of them all. Then he broke it and began to eat. They were all encouraged and ate some food themselves. Altogether there were 276 of us on board. When they had eaten as much as they wanted, they lightened the ship by throwing the grain into the sea.
When daylight came, they did not recognize the land, but they saw a bay with a sandy beach, where they decided to run the ship aground if they could. Cutting loose the anchors, they left them in the sea and at the same time untied the ropes that held the rudders. Then they hoisted the foresail to the wind and made for the beach. But the ship struck a sandbar and ran aground. The bow stuck fast and would not move, and the stern was broken to pieces by the pounding of the surf.
After they had gone a long time without food, Paul stood up before them and said: “Men, you should have taken my advice not to sail from Crete; then you would have spared yourselves this damage and loss. But now I urge you to keep up your courage, because not one of you will be

But the ship struck a sandbar and ran aground. The bow stuck fast and would not move, and the stern was broken to pieces by the pounding of the surf.
The soldiers planned to kill the prisoners to prevent any of them from swimming away and escaping. But the centurion wanted to spare Paul’s life and kept them from carrying out their plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to land. The rest were to get there on planks or on other pieces of the ship. In this way everyone reached land safely.

A TREASURE OF CREATION INFORMATION
I believe the biblical account of the creation of the earth and all thigs in it, because to me it is the best explanation for the complexity of design in nature that I have personally witnessed. Everything I see in the Skies, Oceans, Deserts and Forests points to a divine designer. It did not happen by chance!
As a Young-earth Creationists I believe the biblical account, as stated in Genesis 1, of God creating all things in a literal six (24-hour) days. I believe this occurred about 6,100 years ago. I also believe that about 4,100 years ago, in the days of Noah, the surface of the earth was destroyed and radically rearranged by the global flood. All land animals and birds not in Noah’s Ark (along with many sea creatures) perished, many of which were subsequently buried in the Flood sediments.
We don’t all share the same beliefs, but we all share common ground with our freedom of choice. We can choose to be Creationists or not, Christian or non-Christian and when it comes to evidence for our beliefs, again we all share the same common ground. We all have the same evidence and the same facts. For our evidence we all look to the same earth, the same fossil layers, the same flora and fauna, the same solar system, the same past, present and future and we all share the same facts.
Where we differ, is in the way we choose to interpret the facts and because we start with different presuppositions, we interpret the facts differently.
We then assume these things to be true, but we are unable to prove them. Our reasoning is based on presuppositions. This is particularly relevant when dealing with past events.

We all exist in the same present and all facts exist in the present. When we try to understand how the evidence came about, like where did the animals come from? What happened to the Dinosaurs? How did the fossil layers form? And so on, what we are really doing is trying to connect the past to the present. But none of us were there in the past to observe these events. So how can we know what happened and how can we explain the present? We don’t really have a time travelling ‘Doctor Who’ to enlighten us.
But the Christian claims to have been enlightened in these matters. They rely on the historic records in the Bible and claim them to be the Word of God who was there before the beginning and has revealed to us all, the major events of the past.
In a court of law these writings would be considered as evidence.
Just like a jury, we can choose to accept or reject this evidence. Again we all share the same freedom of choice and the same evidence and we can choose to believe or not to believe. We can build our presuppositions on these historic writings or we can build on our presuppositions with newly presented evidence (the more recent writings of others) or we are at liberty to develop our own theories or simply give up.

INTELLIGENT or UNINTELLIGENT DESIGN?
In nature do you see intelligent design or unintelligent design?
I see intelligent design and I know the Intelligent Designer behind it!
I have worked closely with flowers and in them I see wonderful and precise design. The beauty and purpose of flowers, their variations in shape, colour and fragrance, to me, all point to a divine artist. |
